research question

How do gender differences influence how one navigates usability issues on therapist selection websites?

challenge

The rise of digitalization has enabled online therapy services, including searching for a therapist. However, a website's effectiveness relies heavily on user experience, which can be impacted by one's demographics.

outcome

Results of the usability study highlight multiple behavioural differences between male and female participants, most notably in the way information is processed. The SUS scores achieved saw an 11% difference in groups, suggesting a large discrepancy in usability based on gender.

From this, four recommendations were derived to improve readability, consistency and overall user experience.
